Transfer Bonus Calculator

The transfer-bonus calculator computes what a transfer bonus is actually worth on a specific award: divide the award’s price in partner miles by one plus the bonus rate to get how many of your bank points the award really costs, and the difference from the full price is the saving. Because each transferred point becomes more partner miles, the bonus also multiplies the redemption’s cents-per-point value by the same factor — that is the effective cpp uplift on the points you send.

The formula

your points needed = partner award price ÷ (1 + bonus rate)
points saved = partner award price − your points needed
effective cpp = partner-mile cpp × (1 + bonus rate)

Assumes a 1:1 base transfer ratio. A bonus never fixes a bad award — it only discounts a good one — and transfers are one-way, so confirm the seat before moving anything.

A 30% bonus turns 1,000 points into 1,300 miles: enter 30. Assumes a 1:1 base ratio.

VerdictThe bonus covers the 39,000-mile award with 30,000 of your points — 9,000 fewer (23% off). Transfer only after the award seat is confirmed; transfers are one-way.

The pre-filled numbers are a hypothetical example, not a live award price or bonus. A bonus only helps if the award itself is good value — check that first, then transfer the exact amount.

Worked example (hypothetical numbers)

A partner award costs 39,000 miles and the bonus is 30% (hypothetical numbers, not a live offer). Points needed = 39,000 ÷ 1.30 = 30,000 — 9,000 fewer than without the bonus, a 23% discount. If the award is worth 1.2¢ per partner mile, each transferred point returns 1.2 × 1.30 = 1.56¢.
